Sam Wise

Oh, my Sam. What can I say about Sam. Well, first I can say sorry this is a month late. . .

What would life be without Sam? BORING. He is the horseradish in my ice cream and the paprika in my eggs. . . . he is my spicy boy in every possible sense of the word. . . .

This boy has a sweet, genuine heart and a face that beams it to the world. He thinks great thoughts in his other world, where he is master of his universe, and all the grand and glorious plans of boyhood come to fruition. It is a little harder to tame that tiger to a page of math problems in the real world, but when he is "on", he is genius! He will one day be a great inventor of fabulous things, and his brilliance will support us in our old age. . . .and save him from the 9 to 5-er which would be the end of him.

This boy loves legos. He loves mud. He loves the thrill of riding his bike unhindered over a cliff into the great abyss of the woods behind our house. He never thinks ahead, but thoroughly enjoys the ride. He loves food, and is one of my favorite people to cook for, because he thanks you with an incomprehensible chorus of praise with every mouthful, no matter how strange the concoction you may have brewed. He loves to cook, and makes me breakfast in bed on Saturdays (always eggs. . . with a bit of cinnamon, perhaps?). He loves his brothers, and sometimes even his sister, and gives generously to all of every sticky, greasy speck of whatever he may own, carefully pre-tasted and tested for our safety and enjoyment. He is perpetual motion in every direction, and seldom the direction he intends, but always with 110% of his whole self. He loves chess, and watches chess lessons on the computer with the rapt attention of a three year old and their favorite Barney re-run.

He is my Sam, my fire and ice, and I love this sweet boy!!!!

Oh, I love you, too, Sammy. My sweet, sweet Sammy. I adore you.
